After securing the captives, Feng and Nevada set to trying to interrogate Hank, “The” McClure and head of the family. Despite grubby overalls and a beard you could hide a badger in, he seemed pretty sharp. At the moment he was in shock, traumatized and angry. “You have no idea what you’ve done. The Wilders are left alone. Sure, if we come to town and we got a paper on us, the Govmint will try and arrest us. But no-one comes out here and destroys settlements! Women, children murdered and no warning nor chance to surrender. Fool offworlders. You’ve started a war here.”

Taking no heed of this, Feng persuaded Wombat to dose Hank with something to make him more suggestible. After a while he began to reluctantly co-operate and they discovered he now deeply regretted negotiating with “Gor Daveman” who he described as “a suit” or “the swell” (ie not a smelly McClure). Daveman provided details of both delivery runs, a deposit (only Col McClure knows how much) and promise of lots more pay if the vehicles were stopped. He didn’t say where he came from or who he worked for. Hank didn’t care; KCr500 would have been very welcome. The KCr20 deposit was still in his pocket.

When asked about the missing car, he said Magic, Dez and Face had taken half a dozen men to ambush the next delivery run - to The High Nobberal, 400km north of Bromsgrove.

Dave was already on the com; he knew the other drivers well and raised Chung leTarte. Told him hold position. Called Mayor and Constable of Cattermole and explained very briefly what had happened at Bromsgrove

Locate the ambush at the bridge; fake a puncture 40km away, nobody moves (two ambushes!)
Move in by grav modules, Dave and Kurt in car
Dave runs down a McClure. Kurt jumps out and riddles him
Nevada blows up Killer Dez with a HEAP RAM. Everyone else disappears from visual, though still visible on IR
Gunfight, again no contest, Marvolio vehicle blown up, visible again. No prisoners.

Call Gor Daveman at Barliman, appears genuinely bewildered by acccusations, probably not him
Full bag, deliver to Cattermole. Julca Ward Constable horrified at the assault on Bromsgrove. Recommends they “take their money and get back into space”
Ewing Hagman also taken aback though supportive; starts shipping his families out and forting up. Says the Barliman link needs investigating. PCs are offended by the overall lack of ?gratitude, “hire someone else”
Fed up with Tarsus, for now, PCs decide to head back to Collace
